Cam locks
Cam locks are one of the most common, universal locks on the market – used on furniture and lockable cabinets, including cabinet doors, cash boxes and drawer units.
Camlock fittings are everywhere – be it the key override on your home safe, private mailbox or gym lockers – but you might not know it. The only thing you see from the outside of the camlock is the round cylinder face with a keyway and a bevelled rosette around the circumference of the cylinder.
In most cases, these locks have a push or turn button on the inner side and a tumbler lock on the outer side. Cylindrical in shape, a camlock has a separate tail or fastener to hold it firmly on the door when locking or unlocking. These locks can be used to offer high security in different areas.
For some cam locks, you can only remove the key when locked, others you can remove the key in either the locked or unlocked state. You can also choose the options of keyed alike, key different or even master keyed cam locks.
With security needs constantly changing, there are new types designed from time to time, including advanced electronic locks that are operated using a remote controller.
