Mul-T-Lock products can be supplied on different key platforms. The platform affects the key technology, level of key-copy control, master-key capability, compatibility with an existing system and the products that can operate from the same key.
This guide compares the principal Mul-T-Lock platforms customers are likely to encounter, including the numbered MTL platforms, Integrator and 7X7, and explains related names such as Classic, ClassicPro, MT5, MT5+ and Interactive+.

Consider MTL200 where dependable operation and price are more important than the strongest restricted-key controls.
Consider MTL300 for residential, small-business and project applications needing a current patented platform and master-key capability.
Consider MTL400 / ClassicPro for card-controlled key duplication, keyed-alike convenience and scalable system options.
Consider MTL500 / MT5 for larger master-key hierarchies and where compatibility with an existing MT5 arrangement may be required.

MTL200 is a six-pin, sawn-key platform intended to provide a durable medium-security solution at an accessible price. It is available for keyed-different and keyed-alike arrangements and has basic master-key capability.
Consider before choosing: Mul-T-Lock states that duplicate MTL200 keys can be made using standard key-copy equipment. Ask us about MTL300, MTL400, MTL600 or MTL800 where stronger restricted-key control is a central requirement.
MTL300 develops the established 7x7 pin system by adding a telescopic pin. Mul-T-Lock positions it as a patented high-security platform with a high level of key-copy control, a wide product range and master-key-system capability.
Consider before choosing: confirm whether every cylinder, padlock or specialist lock required for the project is available on MTL300 and whether the system has enough capacity for planned expansion.
MTL400, also known as ClassicPro, combines Mul-T-Lock telescopic pin technology with a special patented key cut. The platform is designed to improve resistance to picking, drilling and bumping while providing controlled key duplication through an authorised-dealer process and magnetic key card.
Consider before choosing: feature availability depends on the product, profile, system design and possible minimum order quantities. An older Mul-T-Lock Classic key should not be assumed to be MTL400 / ClassicPro.
Mul-T-Lock presents MTL500 as MTL500 (MT5). It uses a combination of protective elements to form a double locking mechanism and supports large and complex master-key systems, including hierarchy and matrix requirements within the same suite.
Consider before choosing: never order an addition to an old MT5 system from the platform name alone. We need the key card, system reference and exact profile to confirm compatibility.
MTL600, also known as Interactive+, combines an enhanced telescopic pin mechanism with a patented floating element. It is designed for high-security applications while supporting advanced key control and complex organisational needs.
Consider before choosing: check the current product range and long-term system plan. Some specialist products and functions may have different lead times, minimum quantities or design requirements.
MTL800 is Mul-T-Lock's premium mechanical platform for large-scale and complex applications and is the current successor to the previous MT5+ platform. Its triple locking approach combines telescopic pin technology, a moving element at the key tip and a locking bar that interacts with horizontal finger pins.
Consider before choosing: MTL800 is not automatically necessary for every door. A properly specified MTL300, MTL400, MTL500 or MTL600 system may be more proportionate. We will match the platform to the risk, product range and access hierarchy.
Integrator remains listed by Mul-T-Lock as an established platform. It uses a high-precision seven-pin tumbler mechanism, coded key-card control and a range of keyed-different, keyed-alike, master-key and other supported keying options. Current UK product availability still needs to be confirmed for the particular cylinder, padlock or lock format.
7X7 is Mul-T-Lock's standard-security reversible-key platform. Mul-T-Lock describes it as a flexible, affordable platform with coded key-card control, keyed-alike and master-key options, and the ability to form a dual-level system with Integrator. Some Lock Shop Direct product listings use “7x7 (Garrison)”; the current official Mul-T-Lock platform name is 7X7.
Classic is a separate telescopic-pin platform and must not be confused with MTL400 / ClassicPro. Where a customer has an existing Classic system, the exact profile, key card and system reference should be checked before supplying keys or cylinders.
Older patent-expiry statements should not be used as a substitute for checking the exact platform, profile, territory and current manufacturer arrangements. We will confirm current availability and key-duplication requirements when quoting.
Each lock normally has its own operating key. This provides separation between doors but can create more keys to manage.
One key operates several compatible locks. This is useful for homes, small businesses, gates, padlocks and other access points where the same people may enter all areas.
Individual keys operate defined doors, while master or sub-master keys operate authorised groups. The system must be designed before manufacture.
Selected platforms can allow a temporary common key during a project and then change to the permanent combinations. Availability and minimum quantities must be confirmed.
On supported products, the lock combination can be changed up to two times using designated keys. This is not available on every platform or product.
Selected MTL platforms can integrate with Mul-T-Lock CLIQ solutions, combining mechanical keying with programmable access control.
