BS3621 Rim Locks

Rim locks are essentially locks that are surface-mounted and do not have to be mortised into the door, unlike mortice locks. They sit on the inside and interact with an external rim cylinder, which permits unlocking using a key from the outside, and they also lock behind you once the door is closed by itself.

Types of locks

Auto deadlocking

These mean the doors are automatically deadlocked as it closes. As it does, a trigger is activatedon the anti-thrust bolt, protecting the door against entry attempts to “slip” the latch bolt using a plastic card.

Deadlocking

These types have a snib button on the internal lock body. When engaged, it can deadlock the handle to prevent it from being operated from the inside, providing an extra layer of security against intruders reaching through a letterbox. It can be used to hold the latch in a withdrawn mode for free entry.

High-Security Standard

Highly recommended by the police and insurance companies. It provides a maximum level of security, featuring a TS007 1 rim cylinder and a cylinder guard, an internal lockable handle, and a 20mm bolt to provide more strength and anti-bump, anti-drill, anti-carding, and anti-pick protection.

Drawback

Properly fitted to the door, drawback locks can be locked and unlocked from the outside and inside using a key. The latch can be held in a retracted position by pulling the handle from the inside, allowing for convenient access without a key.
