Travel Padlocks (9)

Travelling can be stressful but, thanks to travel padlocks, this needn’t be the case.

Securing your holdall or suitcase with a high-security, durable padlock will provide you with the peace of mind that your luggage is safe and secure when travelling. No need to worry about unwanted snoopers. And, as a security specialist, LockShop Direct can help you to identify the best luggage padlocks – saving you the expense and inconvenience of ordering the wrong one.

Do I need a travel padlock?

The simple answer is yes.

Although nothing can completely guarantee the safety of your belongings whilst in transit – and it’s simply not possible to travel with all of your possessions on your lap or in the footwell – a decent travel padlock will protect your luggage against theft and keep it safe.

Travelling by plane? Most of the time, baggage can be electronically screened but, on occasion, your luggage may need to be opened by a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) agent. In which case, a TSA approved padlock that comes with a combination lock and, occasionally, a keyhole is a great choice and will allow the agent to check inside your case or bag without having to bust the lock or damage your luggage.

Choosing luggage padlocks

There is a vast range of travel padlocks on the market today and, whilst it’s great to have options, knowing which to choose can be easier said than done.

Key locks are the most traditional of all. All you need to open the device is the proper key. However, you don’t want to lose the key as there’s a good chance you will need to saw the lock apart to get access to what’s locked inside.

Combination locks, on the other hand, are becoming increasingly more popular. Luggage padlocks like these use a 3 or 4-digit combination to secure your belongings and reduce the need for a key. Just make sure you don’t forget the code otherwise you won’t be able to get into your suitcase!
