The FERCO Munster Joinery Lever Operated Latch Only - 1 Lower Deadbolt & 2 Roller has a 35mm backset, 70mm centres, 198mm case height, 51mm case width, single spindle and a latch only centre case. Originally manufactured for Munster Joinery, this lock was fitted extensively to doors throughout Ireland, with a smaller number also supplied into the UK market. The FERCO Munster Joinery lock was commonly used on doors manufactured from the 1980s onwards and remains a recognised replacement requirement today. Due to the location of the additional locking point, there is no direct alternative replacement and the correct Munster Joinery version should be used. IdentificationThis unit features a distinctive large deadbolt locking point positioned low down on the door. It is also unusual for locks to feature 70mm centres, a 7mm spindle and a latch only centre case, making this combination a useful way to identify the unit. GearboxThe latch only gearbox has a single spindle, a case height of 198mm and a case width of 51mm. Additional Locking PointsIn addition to the locking point within the gearbox, the full length strip features 1 deadbolt and 2 roller locking points. FaceplateThe unit has a 16mm wide faceplate, making it suitable for UPVC applications, with an overall length of 1982mm. Locking Point DistancesLocking Point Distance A = 720mmLocking Point Distance B = 317mmLocking Point Distance D = 679mmCroppableThis full length unit is croppable, allowing the strip height to be reduced to suit the door it is being installed into. HandingThe latch can be reversed by pushing in the latch hold cam located on the side of the lockcase, removing the latch, reversing it and returning it to the case. A click should be heard as the latch engages correctly. Sprung/UnsprungThe gearbox is sprung and incorporates an internal spring mechanism to assist with lever return, removing the need for sprung handles or a separate spring cassette. OperationLocking Method - A. Lift the lever to engage the locking mechanisms, then turn the cylinder one full turn to lock. To unlock, turn the key one full turn and push down on the lever.
